As we get closer to the North Carolina primary, the “who does Johnny Ed like?” speculation is going to get INTENSE. Considering how well-loved Elizabeth Edwards is, people also really want to know her pick. Somehow I can’t imagine how he can endorse Clinton and get away with it, considering the core content of his campaign.
BUT, here is a telling detail from today’s piece in the Times on this:
“He doesn’t want to pick the loser,” (an) aide said.
That’s rather uncharitable, I think–are we really to assume that Johnny Ed will stow his son-of-a-millworker rage against the DLC and jump on with a (non-existent) Hillary ticket?
I wonder . . .
